Whew, it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted a new video hasn’t it? Like, almost 2 months!
If you ask me, that’s just WAY too long. The truth is, this last one was an absolute beast to edit down and find the exact story I wanted to tell. But, after weeks of rewrites, repeated voice recording sessions, and alternate cuts, I’m thrilled to finally be able to share the final product.
Celebrating Independence Day in Myanmar!
For those of you that have been following along with GlobeSlice recently, you’ll remember that my Independence Day in Myanmar experience was all about being in the right place at the right time. When the late night ceremonies kicked off outside my hotel window, I really had no idea what was going on.
It wasn’t until the next day that I found out the cause for celebration and couldn’t believe my luck! Even better was the crowd that had gathered within this small neighborhood, who couldn’t have been more friendly. Not only were they completely cool with all of my picture taking and video recording, but I was regularly invited to participate in the festivities. While I can’t imagine my karaoke abilities having a positive effect on anything, it was impossible not to feel immensely appreciative of how welcoming everyone was.
It’s moments like these that keep me traveling.
If you’re interested in reading more about my experience celebrating Independence Day in Myanmer, such as an incredibly relevant karaoke song that I couldn’t includ in the video, check out my original blog post here.
